How do I map Header row, Date, Amount, and Reference / Identifier for an uploaded report?

Last updated on Aug 31, 2026

Short Answer: Open the 'Configure file' modal for the report, set 'Header row', choose 'Date (optional)' and 'Amount', then select one or more 'Reference / Identifier' columns.

PreRequisites

  1. Report uploaded to a side

  2. Have access to edit the report pencil icon

Steps

  1. Open the report's Configure file modal by clicking the pencil icon on the report tile.
Modal titled 'Configure file - 1' or 'Configure file - 2' opens and shows 'Data preview (20 rows)'.

  2. In 'Required fields', set 'Header row' to the row number where column headers appear.
Column headers in the Data preview update to the chosen header row example shows '4'.

  3. If your file has a date column, set 'Date (optional)' to the column name that contains dates.
Date column is selected and visible in the Data preview.

  4. Set 'Amount' to the column that contains transaction amounts.
The selected Amount column displays numeric values in the preview.

  5. Under 'Reference / Identifier' select one or more columns to use as matching keys tokens like 'Identifier' and 'TestCaseID' appear.
Selected identifiers appear as tokens in the field.

  6. If applicable, choose whether this file should 'Match with Side A' or 'Match with Side C'.
The chosen 'Match with' option is highlighted.

  7. Close the modal and click 'Save configuration' on the main page to persist your mappings.
Field mappings are saved for the report.

Troubleshooting

  1. Columns look wrong or blank after mapping.
LikelyCause: Header row value is incorrect.
Action: Change 'Header row' up or down until the correct header names appear in 'Data preview (20 rows)'.

  2. 'Amount' is not available or shows non-numeric values.
LikelyCause: Header detection failed or amount values include text/formatting.
Action: Ensure the correct header row is selected; if needed, fix the source file to have a clean numeric Amount column.

  3. Reference / Identifier options don't include the column I expect.
LikelyCause: Wrong header row or headers contain unexpected characters.
Action: Set 'Header row' to the correct row and re-open the dropdown to select the identifier column.

Note: Date is optional; you can select multiple Reference / Identifier columns. Use 'Data preview (20 rows)' to verify mappings.
