Short Answer: In the 'Configure file' modal change 'Select the row number where the column headers are present' to the correct row, and use 'Add column' to include columns not shown in the preview.
PreRequisites
- You have opened the 'Configure file' modal for Books or Customer statement.
Steps
-
Open the 'Configure file' modal by clicking the pencil icon on the file card.
'Configure file' modal appears with a Data preview. -
Locate 'Select the row number where the column headers are present' and set the numeric value to the row that contains your headers examples: '4' or '5'.
Preview shows column header names aligned with the header row. -
If a needed column is not present, click 'Add column' in the preview area.
You can add or map an extra column from the file preview. -
After changing header row or adding a column, reselect Date/Amount/Reference fields as needed and close the modal.
Mappings reflect the corrected header and new columns.
Troubleshooting
- Changing header row doesn't show correct column names.
LikelyCause: The file's first rows include blank or merged cells, or the preview row count is offset.
Action: Try adjacent row numbers until headers align, or pre-edit the file so headers appear on a single, clear row before uploading.
Note: Use 'Add column' when header mapping can't reveal a needed identifier or amount column.
