Header row or columns look wrong in the data preview — how do I fix it?

Last updated on Sep 08, 2026

Short Answer: Open the file's 'Configure file' modal, set the correct 'Header row' number, then reselect Date, Amount and Reference columns so the preview lines up with headers.

PreRequisites

  1. File uploaded and the 'Configure file' preview is accessible.

Steps

  1. Open 'Configure file' by clicking the pencil icon on the file tile.
Configure modal opens showing the data preview.

  2. Locate 'Header row' and set it to the row that contains your column headers example value '1'.
Preview header row aligns with column labels.

  3. Verify the Date and Amount selections match the preview columns and adjust them if needed.
Dates and amounts show in the correct columns.

  4. If columns are still shifted due to extra top rows in the source file, either change 'Header row' to the correct row or remove extra rows in the source file and re-upload.
Preview aligns and parsing is correct.

  5. Close the modal and re-run the reconciliation to check that changes fix mismatches.
    Reconciliation uses the corrected mapping.

Troubleshooting

  1. Columns remain misaligned after changing 'Header row'.
LikelyCause: File has hidden or merged cells, extra top rows, or inconsistent formatting.
Action: Edit source file to remove extra header rows or clean formatting, save, re-upload, and set 'Header row' again.

Note: Header row must point to the exact row where column names are present; screenshots show 'Header row' set to '1' as an example.
