How do I select multiple Reference / Identifier columns to use for matching?
Category: File mapping
Short Answer: Open 'Configure file' for the file and add multiple columns in the 'Reference / Identifier' field; selected columns appear as tags.
Answer
PreRequisites
-
File is uploaded and you can open the Configure file modal.
-
You know which columns should serve as identifiers.
Steps
-
Open the upload/configure screen and click the pencil edit icon on the file card to open 'Configure file'.
The Configure file modal opens for that file. -
In the right panel find 'Reference / Identifier' and open the dropdown.
You see available column names to select. -
Click each column you want to use examples visible: 'Reference', 'Description', 'Num', 'Memo/Description', 'Name'.
Selected columns appear as tags in the Reference / Identifier field. -
Close the modal and re-run reconciliation so matches use the newly selected identifiers.
Matching uses the set of identifier columns.
Troubleshooting
- Adding identifiers did not change match results.
LikelyCause: The chosen identifier columns do not contain matching values across both files.
Action: Confirm that the same identifier columns or equivalent values are present in both files, or add a different identifier that aligns between files.
