What does 'Match basis' mean in Matched transaction details?

Last updated on Sep 08, 2026

Short Answer: 'Match basis' lists which fields were used to pair a Books/ledger transaction with a Credit card statement transaction for example, 'Reference ID + Amount'.

PreRequisites

  1. Reconciliation has been run.

  2. You can open the 'Matched transaction details' modal for a row.

Steps

  1. Open a matched transaction row to display the 'Matched transaction details' modal.
    The modal opens.

  2. Read the 'Match basis' section. It shows the exact fields used e.g., 'Reference ID' and 'Amount'.
You can confirm which identifiers were used to match the pair.

  3. If you need a different match basis, edit the files' Reference / Identifier columns in the Configure file modal so both files expose the desired identifiers.
Both files will include the identifiers you want to use.

  4. Re-run reconciliation to use the updated mappings.
    Matches reflect the new identifiers.

Troubleshooting

  1. Match basis shows fields you didn't expect or is missing identifiers.
LikelyCause: The corresponding Reference / Identifier columns were not selected in one or both files.
Action: Open each file's Configure file modal and add the appropriate Reference / Identifier columns, then re-run reconciliation.

Note: The UI includes the exact text 'Transactions matched using Identifier and Amount.' in the Matched transaction details modal.
