How do I edit a reconciliation?

Last updated on Sep 29, 2026

Short Answer: Open the report's three-dot menu and choose 'Edit reconciliation', update the name/period/files, then click 'Continue' to configure mappings.

PreRequisites

  1. Signed in to Cointab.

  2. You can access the reconciliation report you want to edit.

Steps

  1. On the report page, click the three-dot menu next to 'Download report'.
A dropdown opens that includes the option 'Edit reconciliation'.

  2. Select 'Edit reconciliation' from the dropdown.
The 'Edit reconciliation' page opens and shows the yellow banner about editing a draft.

  3. Update fields such as 'Reconciliation name' and 'Period' at the top of the page.
New values appear in the 'Reconciliation name' and 'Period' fields.

  4. To change uploaded files, click the pencil icon next to 'Report Name' or use the file card links such as '+ Add more files to Books'.
You can add or open a file to configure its columns.

  5. When file selection and edits are complete, click 'Continue' in the top right.
The Configure file modal opens so you can map columns.

Troubleshooting

  1. I don't see 'Edit reconciliation' in the three-dot menu.
LikelyCause: You may not have edit permission or you're viewing a read-only report.
Action: Confirm you are signed in to the correct Cointab account and that you have edit access. If needed, contact the report owner or Support.

  2. My edits aren't applied immediately.
LikelyCause: You are editing a draft; changes will not replace the active reconciliation until saved as a new version.
Action: Review the banner 'Editing a draft based on version 1...' and follow the flow to save the draft as a new version so changes take effect.

Note: The page header shows a yellow banner: 'Editing a draft based on version 1. The current reconciliation will remain unchanged until these changes are saved as a new version.'
