Short Answer: Open the 'Layout' tab, choose 'Display values as' Columns or Rows, toggle 'Show grand total row' / 'Show grand total column', and enable 'Row subtotals' or 'Column subtotals' when the report has multiple fields.
PreRequisites

Add a data source to the report so rows/columns/values are available.
-

Layout controls Display values, Grand totals, Subtotals, Sorting are visible. -
Under 'Display values as' select either 'Columns' or 'Rows'.
Values layout updates accordingly. -

Grand totals appear in the preview based on toggles. -
Enable 'Row subtotals' or 'Column subtotals' when you have more than one row or column field.
Subtotals appear when the report has multiple row/column fields. Message: 'Subtotals are available when the report has more than one row or column field.'
Troubleshooting
- Subtotals toggles are not available or have no effect.
LikelyCause: The report has fewer than two row or column fields.
Action: Add additional row or column fields under the 'Rows' or 'Columns' tabs, then enable subtotals.
Note: Use the 'Sorting' area to control order after adding row, column, or value fields.
