How do I use reconciliation data as a data source?

Last updated on Oct 14, 2026

Short Answer: Choose 'Use reconciliation data', pick a completed recon with 'Select a completed recon' using 'Search period, recon no, or name', select a 'Data report', then click 'Add data' to load sample rows.

PreRequisites

  1. Be signed in to Cointab.

  2. Have at least one completed reconciliation available.

  3. The completed recon should contain the matching item you want to report on.

Steps

  1. On the New report page click '+ Add data'.
    The 'Add data' modal opens.

  2. Select 'Use reconciliation data'.
The 'Use reconciliation data' picker opens.

  3. Click 'Select a completed recon' and use 'Search period, recon no, or name' to find the recon.
A list of completed recons appears for selection, with example rows like 'test 01 · Recon 166 · 2 files · 9 Oct 2026'.

  4. Choose the recon and then pick a 'Data report' from the 'Select a report' dropdown on the right.
A data report is selected for the matching item.

  5. Click 'Add data'.
Sample table 'Sample data · first 25 valid rows' loads in the report preview.

Troubleshooting

  1. No completed recon appears in the list.
LikelyCause: You have no completed reconciliations or the selected recon is not completed.
Action: Complete a reconciliation first, or adjust your search using 'Search period, recon no, or name'.

  2. 'Select a report' is empty after selecting a recon.
LikelyCause: There may be no data report associated with that matching item.
Action: Try choosing a different completed recon or use another data source like 'Upload new data' or 'Use output from another report'.

  3. Sample shows fewer rows than expected.
LikelyCause: Only valid rows from this completed recon and matching item are shown in preview.
Action: Open the original recon to verify which rows are valid, or run the report to get complete calculations.

Note: The sample table shows the first 25 valid rows. 'Only valid rows from this completed recon and matching item will be used, including Matching Status and Match ID.'
